Attraction marketing

Want to gain more leads without investing too much money? Start doing attraction marketing. What’s that you ask? Don’t worry, you’ll find out shortly.

But first:

Don’t you hate it when you waste a ton of money buying website traffic, but your conversion rate sucks so you end up not getting too many leads or if any at all?

Don't know how to get started making money online? One of the best ways is to start a blog. You can easily do that with Bluehost.

Well, as a media buyer (someone who buys a shit ton of paid traffic), let me tell you: that can absolutely happen to you.

Heck, it happens to me on a constant basis. Naturally, some campaigns will fail and others will prosper. But in this marketing world, we keep on testing and optimizing and testing some more until we turn those losses into wins.

But what if, you don’t always have to spend and waste a ton of money or do extra SEO work in order to gain leads and clients, and sales?

It’s totally possible, through something that we internet marketing wizards call: attraction marketing.

Sounds sexy huh? We have so many “marketing” types:

  • Digital / Internet / Online marketing
  • Content Marketing
  • Social Media Marketing
  • Inbound Marketing
  • Affiliate Marketing
  • CPA Marketing
  • Video Marketing
  • …you get it ๐Ÿฅฑ

And of course, attraction marketing, the thing that we are focused on in this article.

Let me tell you all about it and how to create an attraction marketing formula to win and gain more leads.

What Is Attraction Marketing?

Attraction marketing is just a fancy term for: Give out quality stuff for free, built trust and a reputation, and hope to gain leads that will transform into clients and sales in the long run.

That’s the gist of it anyway. I’m going to go into a bit more detail. But heck, if you just wanted to learn what is attraction marketing and bounce, now you know.

Here’s the more in-depth definition and how it works:

You as a marketer, or business, have one goal: to make money.

How?

Well, most of the time you sell stuff or sell someone else’s stuff (affiliate marketing).

But the most common one is that you have your own product or service that you want to promote the heck out of it.

Your job is to gain tons of leads that transform into customers, which in turn brings you back to your number one goal: making money.

My favorite all-in-one SEO tool is Semrush. It basically has over 40+ SEO tools inside one neat and easy-to-use platform. Check out Semrush via my affiliate link and get a 7-day free trial.

Most of the time, brands and marketers will just think like this:

“Right, we have product X, so all we need now is to create a website, and start selling it right away.”

And while that strategy can work, it can cost you a lot of money in the process trying to figure out how to best target your clients and not spend a fortune on ads while doing that.

There is a better way though: Give out free quality shit. Ok, ok, you don’t like swearing words, I get it. But honestly, that’s the best description I’ve got.

The goal here is not to do a hard sell, but a soft sell. Check out: Hard Selling vs Soft Selling to learn more about the differences.

Essentially you go from: “Hey, this is why you need to buy this product of ours” to “Hey, here’s why I think this product is great, plus other options”

You sort of becoming an influencer if you will, or a reviewer, or a mix of both. But now that you found out what attraction marketing is, let’s move on to finding out if this actually works the effort.

Is Attraction Marketing Effective?

Let me answer this question with another question. Have you ever signed up for an email newsletter and after a while you decided to buy something based on an email received from that said newsletter?

Or have you ever wanted to purchase a product and started to first read in-depth reviews and comparison articles online and after that, you have decided to buy the thing (straight via an affiliate link)?

Chances are that this happened to you more than you’d think because that’s how attraction marketing works.

Brands and publishers and marketers will try to “sell you” on their products or services without actually selling it to you directly. Instead, they use free resources to get you familiarized with their company and services.

Fun fact, this blog post that you’re reading right now is actually a type of attraction marketing strategy.

I’m giving you free information about a subject, without selling anything to you at first. But if you sign up for my email newsletter (just do it), you will start receiving awesome emails from me on a regular basis.

After a while, if I write about an epic product or service (whether it’s an affiliate one or mine), you will be more than likely to buy it, because you already know that I won’t be bullshitting you and you got familiarized with me and my work.

I’ll give you more attraction marketing examples below, but for now you must understand this:

Don't want to spend too much money on SEO tools such as Semrush but still want something to track your SEO data? Try Mangools.

Attraction marketing is effective and it absolutely works. You don’t have to spend a lot of money, and if you’re not doing this in 2022, chances are that it will be tougher to get new leads and sales than otherwise.

Even when you’re paying for traffic, as I do regularly, it’s not simply enough to just send people to a landing page with a big “Buy Now” button.

A better alternative would be to send them to a squeeze page, ask them for their email (you gain leads), and give them something truly epic in return.

You can then, later on, proceed to try and sell to them your main product or service, via different methods such as retargeting or email campaigns.

Attraction Marketing Formula and Strategies For Success

Ok, ok, enough chatter, let’s get straight to business. What does an attraction marketing formula or strategy look like?

Well, there are a couple of ways and strategies that you can choose to implement, depending on the type of online business that you’re running.

Here are the most popular attraction marketing strategies:

  • Create and give away a FREE product or service (eBooks, course, digital marketing tools, etc.)
  • Start a blog and gain your readers’ trust by offering high-quality content such as guides, reports, case studies, advice, reviews, product comparisons.
  • Make webinars and videos and invite users to view them.
  • Start an email newsletter giving away free insight, tips, advice, and discounts
  • You can also start a podcast if you feel a bit like a rockstar and hate writing.

Check out a basic attraction marketing formula that I just made for you:

As you can see there are 4 steps that you need to follow in order to apply attraction marketing for your online business to turn visitors into customers:

  1. Get traffic – Check out 17 free traffic methods (you can also pay for traffic)
  2. Send it to a squeeze page – Gain leads by collecting their email or phone.
  3. Nurture your leads – Give them quality information and follow up regularly.
  4. Convert – After a while, you can introduce them to your product, services, or affiliate offers and start getting sales and money.

What to keep in mind when doing attraction marketing:

1. Find Out Your Audience

You have to start out with finding out your perfect target audience. This way, it’s going to be easier to create good content that’s relevant to them and the issues that they are facing.

2. Build Trust

Understand your audience. Identify their problems, challenges, or questions. And try your best to answer them via quality content that addresses those issues.

There’s a reason why some people are customers of a product for many years or for life. If you show that you care and you build trust, you will have an easier time down the road when it comes to selling your product or services to them.

How many of you are using a product or service for many years now without ever having thought about changing and going to a different brand? Think about it, you probably use something on a daily basis just from a single brand, and that’s because you trust them more than the others.

For example, some people only drive Volvo’s because the company has built a reputation and a brand focusing on passengers’ safety. And without a fail, they have always delivered on their promises, constantly achieving the highest safety ratings in the car industry year after year.

My favorite all-in-one SEO tool is Semrush. It basically has over 40+ SEO tools inside one neat and easy-to-use platform. Check out Semrush via my affiliate link and get a 7-day free trial.

That trust is not easily broken, and their customers are less likely to switch to a different car brand after so many years with them.

3. Quality Content

Always start by offering your best stuff for free. Sure you might think it’s a waste of time or money, but this actually works. There’s a reason why there are people giving away free samples of cheese in Walmart.

It’s a chance for cold traffic (people that haven’t heard about you) to get to know you and your products or services and learn more about them.

So give them awesome content that solves their problems or answers their questions.

4. Engage With Them

Get active on social media channels, and talk and engage with your audience, potential leads, and customers. Not only is it an awesome way of showing that you care, but it’s also an easy and fun way of building a brand.

Reply to their questions, create polls and interactive content, and invite them to your site and start collecting leads and sales.

5. Convert & Sell

After you’ve nurtured your leads and gave them quality advice and information, your audience will start trusting you a bit more. Now it’s the perfect time to pitch them about your products and services and start making sales.

6. Follow Up

Keep in mind to follow up with your leads and customers on a regular basis. You can ask for reviews about your products, or feedback, or give them more free stuff and discounts. People love when companies care about them after the sale.

Ok, so now that I’ve shown you a few attraction marketing strategies and tips, it’s time to take a look at real-life examples of brands implementing it.

Examples of Brands Using Attraction Marketing

Let’s take a look now at some popular brands and services that are using attraction marketing successfully to gain leads and customers.

1. Semrush

semrush

You know me, I love talking about Semrush on this blog, and not just because I’m an affiliate of theirs either.

Their service is straight-up awesome, and it’s one of the best all-in-one SEO platforms online. They have over 40+ tools that you can gain access to for a very fair price compared to the competition.

But I’m not going to make this about why I like Semrush and why you should use them. No, instead I’m going to focus on their attraction marketing strategy.

They create and post really good SEO related content on their blog:

Don't know how to get started making money online? One of the best ways is to start a blog. You can easily do that with Bluehost.
semrush blog - attraction marketing example

As you can see, Semrush publishes a lot of content in the form of guides and advice that’s related mostly to SEO practices.

This makes it easier for them to rank on a lot of competitive SEO keywords, and gain tons of traffic for free via the search engines. Traffic that they can then convert into leads and then potentially into customers.

They also host some great webinars with industry experts:

But they didn’t stop there. In addition to their awesome blog content and great webinars, they have also created an academy that is filled with courses on different digital marketing subjects:

So as you can see, Semrush offers first-time website visitors a ton of free and quality content upfront, with the ultimate goal of convincing them to sign up for a Semrush free trial (get 7 days free with this link btw), and then convert them into long-time paying customers.

And it works.

Over 7 million marketers have used Semrush for their online marketing needs. Not only that, but a staggering 30% of Fortune 500 companies are also using the SEO service to boost their online presence.

Companies like Nike, Apple, TESLA and Amazon are all clients of Semrush.

Those are some pretty big numbers and names, I guess Semrush attraction marketing strategies paid off big time.

2. NerdWallet

NerdWallet

NerdWallet is another great attraction marketing example. This is basically an affiliate website that provides visitors with a lot of free guides and information about personal finance.

They give them everything from free financial tools to comparison articles and financial advice. Then, they will either try to get the visitors to sign up for their newsletter by offering them even more resources or directly redirect them to affiliate offers.

Since the users have received so much good information for free upfront, it’s easier for them now to make an informed decision about what type of credit card (for example) is best suited for their needs.

3. IKEA

IKEA and other similar big stores like Target, Home Depot and Walmart, will occasionally host workshops and events that people could attend for free.

Don't want to spend too much money on SEO tools such as Semrush but still want something to track your SEO data? Try Mangools.

For example these are some of their upcoming events in New York:

IKEA

As you can pretty much realize, there’s a ton of people that will have nothing to do and will go, since it’s free after all.

What they don’t realize is that this is a perfect reason for them to spend time in IKEA’s stores, without actually going there with the intention of buying anything.

But as they spend more and more time there, chances are that some people will at least pick up a set of spoons, or some new fancy bean bag for their cats. Some might even indulge and buy some of IKEAs famous meatballs. Whatever the case, it’s a win for IKEA.

All they had to do to attract these people is to offer something awesome for free at first and then try to get them to become customers.

Conclusion

As you can see attraction marketing is something really powerful and an easy and cost-effective way for brands and businesses to gain leads that could turn into paying customers.

There are many attraction marketing strategies that you can implement to grow your business, my favorites are blog content and free digital products such as eBooks, templates, or tools.

Another attraction marketing example that I didn’t include above, is this blog actually. Some of you are probably familiar with my popular guides and articles such as:

I don’t want to brag but, those are some pretty epic guides that I wrote, at least that’s what the comments say anyway.

By providing people with so much good information for free, they are more than likely to sign up for my email newsletter and become to know me better and read more of my stuff in the future.

Eventually, after a while, people will start trusting my opinion and recommendations, and it will be much easier than for me to promote something and get some conversions out of them, for example, to sell my eBooks or courses or even promote an affiliate product.

So you see, attraction marketing can be done in a lot of ways and can be molded to fit any type of business.

Stop wasting money or time on traffic and ads that only get you one-time conversions, and start building an audience and a trust relationship with your customers. I rarely send paid traffic directly to offers these days.

Even if I’m promoting a dating CPA offer, for example, I still get that email first ๐Ÿ˜‰

Stay hustlin’
Stephen

Other than the articles on this blog, I rarely write my own content. Why? It's simple: I hate it. That's why I outsource it from places such as Fiverr.
