The basics
How Etsy fees work in 2026
Every Etsy sale carries three standard fees, and they apply to more than the item price. Advertising, local regulatory fees, currency conversion and tax on fees can add more on top.

Etsy listing fee: $0.20
Etsy charges $0.20 to publish a listing, which stays live for four months. If a listing has more than one item in stock, it renews for another $0.20 each time one sells. The fee is set in US dollars, so sellers in other countries pay the converted amount.

Etsy transaction fee: 6.5%
Etsy’s main commission is 6.5% of the price you display plus what you charge for shipping, gift wrap and personalization, after any discount. Because shipping is included, an $80 item with $20 shipping pays the same transaction fee as a $100 item with free shipping.

Etsy payment processing fee
Etsy Payments charges a percentage plus a fixed fee on the full amount the buyer pays, including shipping and any US sales tax. It is 3% + $0.25 in the US and 4% + £0.20 in the UK. In Canada, Australia and New Zealand, international orders cost 1% more than domestic ones.

Etsy Offsite Ads fee: 12% or 15%
If a buyer clicks an Etsy ad on Google, social media or another site and orders from you within 30 days, Etsy charges 15% of the order, or 12% once your shop has made $10,000 in the past 365 days. It covers shipping too and is capped at $100 per order. On an attributed sale, this one fee is often bigger than all the others combined.

Etsy Ads promote your listings inside Etsy on a daily budget you choose. The cost depends on your bids, so the calculator lets you enter it per order or as a percentage of the order.

Regulatory operating fee, VAT and currency conversion
Sellers in nine countries pay a regulatory operating fee of 0.05% to 1.97% of the order. Sellers in the UK, the EU, Australia, New Zealand, India and several other countries pay VAT or GST on Etsy’s fees unless Etsy has their tax number; in Ireland and Vietnam Etsy charges it either way. Listing in a different currency from your bank account adds a 2.5% conversion fee.
Fees that aren’t charged per sale, such as Etsy’s one-time shop set-up fee, Etsy Plus at $10 a month and Pattern at $15 a month, aren’t included in the calculator.

The fees, for a US seller
Fees = $0.20 per item + 6.5% of the order + 3% of the payment + $0.25
A US seller sells a $100 item with free shipping. Etsy takes $9.95: $0.20 for the listing, $6.50 transaction fee and $3.25 processing (3% + $0.25). That leaves $90.05, an effective fee rate of 9.95%.

Profit = what Etsy deposits − materials − shipping − packaging
If the item cost $30 in materials and $5 to ship, the profit is $55.05, a 55% margin. If the order came from an Offsite Ad at 15%, Etsy takes another $15.00 and the profit falls to $40.05.

How to price your Etsy listings for profit
- Start from your costs. Enter materials, the shipping label and packaging, and check the break-even price. Anything below it loses money on every order.
- Work backwards from the profit you want. Switch to “What to charge” and enter a profit per order or a margin, and the calculator gives you the listing price after every fee.
- Plan for Offsite Ads. If your shop is over $10,000 a year, any order can carry the 12% fee. Check your profit with it switched on before you set a price.
- Know your discount headroom. The calculator shows how far you can discount before an order stops making money, which helps you plan sales and coupons safely.
- Watch the fixed fees on cheap items. On a $5 item, the listing fee and the fixed processing fee alone take about 9%. Bundles and multi-packs spread them over more revenue.

How much does Etsy take from a $1,000 sale?
A US seller pays $95.45 on a $1,000 item: $0.20 listing, $65.00 transaction and $30.25 processing. The Offsite Ads fee is capped at $100 per order, so on large orders it stops at $100 instead of $150.
How do I calculate Etsy fees?
For a US seller: $0.20 per item, plus 6.5% of the item price, shipping and gift wrap, plus 3% of the full amount the buyer pays (sales tax included) and $0.25. Add the Offsite Ads fee if the sale came from an ad. The calculator above does this for 19 countries, including regulatory fees and VAT on fees.
Does Etsy charge fees on shipping?
Yes. The 6.5% transaction fee applies to the item price plus what you charge for shipping and gift wrap, and the payment processing fee applies to the whole payment. Moving cost from the price into shipping does not lower your fees.
Does Etsy charge fees on sales tax?
For US sellers, the 6.5% transaction fee and the Offsite Ads fee do not apply to sales tax, but the payment processing fee does, because it is charged on the full amount the buyer pays.
What is the Etsy Offsite Ads fee and can I opt out?
When a buyer clicks an Etsy ad on another site and orders from your shop within 30 days, Etsy charges 15% of the order, capped at $100. Shops that have made less than $10,000 in the past 365 days pay 15% and can opt out. Once a shop reaches $10,000, the fee drops to 12%, participation is required, and the 12% rate applies for the life of the shop.
What is the Etsy regulatory operating fee?
It is an extra percentage of the item price, shipping and gift wrap charged to sellers in some countries: Canada 0.50%, France 1.14%, Hungary 1.97%, India 0.05%, Italy 0.80%, Spain 0.88%, Türkiye 1.67%, the United Kingdom 0.48% and Vietnam 1.24%.
Do UK and EU sellers pay VAT on Etsy fees?
Yes, unless they have given Etsy a valid VAT number: UK sellers pay 20% VAT on Etsy’s fees and EU sellers pay their local rate. Etsy charges VAT on fees in Ireland and Vietnam whether or not you are registered. Sellers in Australia, New Zealand and India pay GST on fees in the same way.
Is the $0.20 listing fee charged on every sale?
Yes. A listing costs $0.20 and lasts four months. If it has more than one item in stock, it renews for another $0.20 each time one sells, so selling three of the same item costs $0.60 in listing fees.
Does Etsy refund its fees when I refund an order?
When you refund a sale made through Etsy Payments, the payment processing fee is credited back in proportion to the amount refunded. Check your Payment account to see how the other fees on that order were adjusted.
