How Etsy fees work
Every Etsy sale carries three standard fees, and they are charged on more than the item price.
- Listing fee: $0.20 per listing, charged again each time an item sells or every four months.
- Transaction fee: 6.5% of the item price plus shipping, gift wrap and personalization.
- Payment processing fee: 3% plus $0.25 in the US, and 4% plus a fixed fee in the UK and most of Europe. It applies to the whole payment, including shipping and US sales tax.
On top of those, some sales carry an Offsite Ads fee of 12% or 15%, some countries have a regulatory operating fee, listing in a different currency from your bank account costs 2.5%, and many sellers outside the US pay VAT or GST on the fees themselves.
Etsy fee questions
How much does Etsy take per sale?
For a US seller, Etsy charges a $0.20 listing fee, a 6.5% transaction fee and a payment processing fee of 3% plus $0.25. On a $30 order that comes to $3.30, or 11% of the order, before any advertising fees.
Does Etsy charge fees on shipping?
Yes. The 6.5% transaction fee applies to the item price plus what you charge for shipping, gift wrap and personalization. The payment processing fee applies to the full amount the buyer pays, including shipping and any US sales tax.
What is the Etsy Offsite Ads fee?
When a buyer clicks an Etsy ad on another site and orders from your shop within 30 days, Etsy charges 15% of the order, or 12% once your shop has made $10,000 or more in a 365-day period. The fee covers shipping too and is capped at $100 per order. Shops under $10,000 can opt out.
What is the Etsy regulatory operating fee?
It is an extra percentage of the item price, shipping and gift wrap that Etsy charges sellers in some countries: Canada 0.50%, France 1.14%, Hungary 1.97%, India 0.05%, Italy 0.80%, Spain 0.88%, Türkiye 1.67%, the United Kingdom 0.48% and Vietnam 1.24%.
Do I pay VAT on Etsy fees?
In the UK, the EU and several other countries, Etsy adds VAT or GST to its seller fees unless you have given Etsy a valid tax ID. In a few countries, including Ireland and Vietnam, it is charged whether or not you are registered.
Does it cost $0.20 every time an item sells?
Yes. A listing costs $0.20 for four months. If a listing has more than one in stock, it renews for another $0.20 each time one sells, so an order of three of the same item costs $0.60 in listing fees.
