How these numbers are checked
- Official sources only. Every rate comes from the platform’s own fee pages, such as Etsy’s fee policy and PayPal’s merchant fees, and each calculator links to its sources.
- Dated and logged. Each calculator shows when its rates were last checked, and every change is logged here.
- Every cost on the sale. Offsite Ads, VAT on fees, international and conversion fees, tips and withdrawal fees are counted, not just the headline rate.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Need a platform we don’t cover yet, or spotted a fee that looks wrong? Tell us.
Are these tools really free?
Yes. Every tool here is free, with no signup, no email and no usage limits. Nothing you type is sent to us: the calculators run in your browser, and your recent calculations are kept only on your device.
How accurate are the fee calculators?
Each calculator uses the rates published on the platform’s own fee pages, links to those pages, and shows the date its rates were last checked. Treat results as planning estimates: some accounts have custom pricing and exchange rates move daily, so a real statement can differ by a few cents.
How much does Etsy take from a $100 sale?
For a US seller, Etsy takes $9.95 on a $100 item with free shipping: a $0.20 listing fee, a $6.50 transaction fee and $3.25 payment processing. You keep $90.05 before your own costs, or $75.05 if the sale came from an Offsite Ad at 15%.
How much does PayPal charge to receive $100?
A US seller pays $3.98 on a $100 PayPal Checkout payment (3.49% + $0.49) and receives $96.02. A Goods and services payment costs $2.99. A buyer outside the US adds 1.5%.
How much does Upwork take from freelancers?
Upwork charges a Freelancer Service Fee of 0% to 15% per contract, shown on the offer or proposal and fixed once the contract starts. At 10%, a $1,000 contract pays you $900. Connects cost $0.15 each, and withdrawal fees depend on the method.
How much does Fiverr take from sellers?
Fiverr keeps 20% of every order, extra and tip, so a $100 gig earns you $80. Your buyer also pays a 5.5% service fee, plus $3.50 on purchases under $200.
Do the calculators work outside the US?
Yes. The Etsy calculator covers 19 countries, including local processing fees, regulatory fees and VAT or GST on fees. The PayPal calculator covers sellers in the US, UK, Canada and Australia. Fiverr’s fees are the same worldwide, and Upwork’s service fee is set per contract wherever you are.
How often are the rates updated?
Each calculator shows the date its rates were last checked against the platform’s own pages, and every change is logged on this page. If you spot a fee that has changed, tell us through the contact page.
